New Jersey School District Pays Bullying Victim’s Family $4.2 Million.

Boston, MA LawyerA school district in New Jersey recently agreed to pay a New Jersey family $4.2 million to settle a lawsuit brought by a 12 year-old boy, Sawyer Rosenstein, who was paralyzed as a result of being punched in the abdomen by a “known bully.” The attacker’s blow to the boy resulted in a blood clot in a major artery that supplies blood to the spine, and the boy was left permanently paralyzed from the waist down.

Rosenstein had emailed school officials just three months prior to the incident, alerting them that he was being bullied and requesting help. According to Rosenstein’s family, school officials knew or should have known about the attacker’s violent tendencies. The family also claimed that the school failed to comply with anti-bullying laws in the state.
