News of the tragic death of recent Yale graduate Marina Keegan has spread like wildfire. Keegan was a journalist and playwright at Yale University. She received national attention for writing a column in the Yale student newspaper in which she wrote “the best years of our lives are not behind us,” just days before she was tragically killed in a car accident.
Keegan was a passenger in a car being driven by her boyfriend, Michael Gocksch, a fellow Yale graduate, when the car rolled over. Keegan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have since charged Gocksch with several charges, including motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation. A hearing has been set for July 5, 2012. If probable cause is found, a criminal complaint would be issued. The investigation is ongoing. There are no reports of drugs or alcohol being a factor in the auto crash.
