Man Seriously Injured in Slip and Fall Accident While Hanging Advertising Posters.

A man in West Yorkshire, England suffered serious slip and fall injuries in an accident that took place while he was hanging advertising posters at a music venue last month. 

Local authorities say the man, who was apparently employed by a music advertising agency, was on the balcony of the top floor of the Holmfirth Picturedrome. He was  putting up posters for upcoming shows when he slipped and fell from the balcony and plummeted to the ground.

Surveillance footage shows the man leaning over the balcony just before he slipped and fell to the ground below. It is not clear from the video how long the fall actually was.

Emergency medical responders airlifted the man to the nearby Leeds General Infirmary, and stated that the man had suffered several broken bones and internal injuries. The medical responders stated that the man was in serious, but stable condition.

Officials at the Holmfirth Picturedrome stated that the slip and fall accident would not affect planned concerts at the music venue.

Local authorities are continuing to investigate the slip and fall accident.

Carnival Ride Operator Arrested After Riders Injured At North Carolina State Fair.

State fair ride operator, Timothy Dwayne Tutterow, 46, has been arrested and criminally charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury. The criminal charges stem from an accident in which five people were injured while riding a carnival ride under his control this past Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The personal injury accident occurred on the Vortex ride at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, North Carolina.  As riders were attempting to exit the ride, the ride started running again, throwing five people into the air, ranging in age from 14 to 29, before they came crashing back down to the ground.

Witnesses at the scene stated that the victims suffered serious injuries. At least one person was knocked unconscious by the fall. The victims, whose names have not yet been released, were transported to a nearby hospital emergency room.  Their current conditions are undisclosed, but at least three of them remained in the hospital on Sunday.

State officials stated that after inspecting the ride, they found that critical safety devices on the ride had been tampered with. The authorities apparently believe that Tutterow intentionally sabotaged the ride.

Oklahoma Jury Awards $3 Million To Car Accident Victims Of Sudden Acceleration Malfunctions In Toyota Vehicles.

A jury in an Oklahoma City District Court has awarded the victims of a 2007 motor vehicle crash $1.5 million each. The verdict came after the jury found that a malfunctioning accelerator in their Toyota Camry caused the fatal car accident. 

The malfunction caused the car to accelerate out of control near Eufaula, Oklahoma, and slam into an embankment.  One of the occupants of the vehicle, Jean Bookout, 82, was seriously injured in the auto crash, and another occupant, Barbara Schwarz, 70, was killed.

In addition to their award of personal injury damages and wrongful death damages to the victims and their families based on Toyota’s negligence, the jury also found that Toyota acted with reckless disregard of the public’s safety. This was the result of Toyota’s failing to correct the problem in their vehicles and concealing the potential danger posed by driving the vehicles from the public.
