Norfolk County, MA is a Massachusetts county with a population of over 670,000. With a per capita income of $35,000, Norfolk County ranks as the 28th highest income county in the United States and the wealthiest county in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Norfolk County, MA is home to twenty eight towns and cities. Some of these include Quincy, Weymouth, Stoughton, Dedham, Norwood, Milton, Braintree, Foxborough, Randolph and Brookline. Adjacent counties include Middlesex, Suffolk, Plymouth, Bristol, Worcester and Providence County, Rhode Island.

Norfolk County, Massachusetts was created in 1793. The county ratification was approved and signed by the renowned Governor John Hancock. The county was named after Norfolk, England. The name is an English term meaning “northern folk.” Norfolk County, MA is often referred to as the “County of Presidents” because it is the birthplace of four Presidents of the United States: John Adams, John Quincy Adams, John F. Kennedy and George H.W. Bush.

Norfolk County, MA is unique in that the county is not fully contiguous. Unlike other Massachusetts counties, the towns of Cohasset and Brookline are both part of Norfolk County, but are separated from the rest of the county, and from one another, by other counties and bodies of water. Cohasset became an exclave of Norfolk County at its formation, when the neighboring towns of Hingham and Hull joined Plymouth County instead. The Town of Brookline became separated during the Brookline-Boston Annexation Debate of 1873, when it refused to be annexed by Boston. Norfolk County, Massachusetts is home to several nationally protected areas, including the Adams National Historical Park, the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site, a part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreational Area, and the birthplace and childhood home of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
