Emergency medical responders, summoned to help the man, provided him with aspirin and nitroglycerin which stabilized his condition. The man was taken to a hospital where he received a full work up of tests to determine the cause of the episode.<\/p>\n<p>The results from the full array of tests did not indicate that the episode had a cardiac cause. The patient was discharged from the hospital and referred to his PCP. The PCP told the patient to stop taking aspirin, and failed to ask for a cardiology consult. The patient died several weeks late from a heart attack.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The deceased patient\u2019s estate brought a <em>wrongful death,<\/em> <em>medical malpractice<\/em> lawsuit for negligence against the PCP\u00a0for taking the patient off aspirin and failing to refer him\u00a0to a cardiologist.
