\"Boston,<\/a>A school district in New Jersey recently agreed to pay a New Jersey family $4.2 million to settle a lawsuit brought by a 12 year-old boy, Sawyer Rosenstein, who was paralyzed<\/a> as a result of being punched in the abdomen by a \u201cknown bully.\u201d<\/strong> The attacker\u2019s blow to the boy resulted in a blood clot in a major artery that supplies blood to the spine, and the boy was left permanently paralyzed<\/a> from the waist down.<\/p>\n

Rosenstein had emailed school officials just three months prior to the incident, alerting them that he was being bullied and requesting help. According to Rosenstein\u2019s family, school officials knew or should have known about the attacker\u2019s violent tendencies. The family also claimed that the school failed to comply with anti-bullying laws in the state.<\/p>\n
