The attack happened in Atherton Tablelands and the dogs involved in the attack were domesticated. At the time of the dog attack, Katrina Tewes was on her way home. She was close to Burrawong Avenue in n Yungaburra when two dogs approached her. She described the moment: \u201cThe two dogs came towards me and started circling me, and then they attacked.\u201d Before rescuers came to assist the woman, the attack had lasted a good five minutes. Barry Hubbard, a 76-year-old, was in his house when he heard screams; he later said that he thought it was a bunch of kids playing. When he went to go check to see if everything was fine, he saw a horrible scene. Barry described the situation: \u201cI didn\u2019t know what was going on, so I went down the side of this house and was confronted with two vicious dogs\u2026 They were both covered in blood.\u201d Barry then rushed to help Mrs. Tewes without thinking about himself. Another rescuer, Neville Vaughan, also intervened. All three of the people involved were brought shortly thereafter to the Atherton District Hospital. Mrs. Tewes received 15 punctures on her arms and legs and Neville had several wounds.
