8 Oklahoma Firefighters Burned Fighting School Fire.

8 Tulsa, Oklahoma firefighters suffered burns while attempting to put out a fire at the Barnard Public School. The fire is believed to have been caused by explosions in one of the school’s chemistry labs.

Three of the firefighters required skin grafts. One of the firefighters was released Monday, nearly 2 weeks after the fire. Two more are still at the Hillcrest Medical Center’s Alexander Burn Center receiving inpatient care.

The names of the injured firefighters have not yet been released.

The Tulsa Fire Marshal’s Office and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms concluded that the fire was accidentally caused by renovations in the building. The building was being renovated after the Tulsa Public Schools leased it to a charter school, the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences.
